Hundreds rallied in downtown Portland on Saturday at Terry Schrunk Plaza and called for answers about whether President Donald Trump or his associates have improper ties to Russia as part of “March of Truth” demonstrations nationwide.
Gatherings were held in many major American cities, including Washington D.C., New York, Los Angeles and Seattle. Oregon marches were scheduled for Astoria, Cave Junction, Coos Bay, Eugene, Lincoln City, The Dalles and Portland.
Portland’s march was marked by its peaceful tenor, a change from other recent demonstrations that devolved into violence or property damage.
“We are here to ask for one simple thing — truth,” said Sorah Dubitsky, an organizer of Saturday’s rally.
Though not in attendance at the rally, U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley and U.S. Reps. Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici delivered statements through aides who were present.
